Becomings
For the intrim show at City and Guilds of London Art School, 2021, I took as a starting point three places which I identify as 'becomings spaces' the dark room, the night club and the building site. Elements from each of these places (dark room red light, reflective trolly, plastic sheets, found collected sounds interwoven) have been arranged within the confines of the studio, which is also a becoming space. The body is set to nomadic mode as it wanders around the space, no route being the best route, all routes are valid. This is rhizomatic territory, which has been very influential in my exploration of finding the potential of some 'thing' be it an object, a sound, a remembered image or memory and encouraging it to open up to even more possibilities.
